Choose the right pump for your needs...

A water pump, or well pump, is the muscle of your water well, pumping the water upward to your designated water system, whether that's your home, business, landscaping or irrigation station. Without a good pump system, you may not be getting the water required to meet your specific needs.

Submersible pumps and jet pumps are two of the most common types of well pumps, and both rely on centrifugal force in order to push the water from the well to the surface. The water is forced upward through the well casing and into the water distribution system by creating a vacuum with the use of spinning rotors known as impellers. The depth of your well system and the amount of water required will determine the type of well pump that would work best for your situation.

Jet pumps use water to pump water, so they must first be primed with flowing water. A jet pump is placed above the ground rather than being submerged. This type of pump lifts the water from the well below, upwards through a suction pipe which creates a vacuum by using impellers that drive water through a small nozzle. While a deep-water jet pump can be used on a well up to 150 feet, they are typically used more often on shallow wells.

Probably the most common type of well pump is the submersible pump. Just like the name implies, a submersible pump is submerged into the well, under the surface of the water level and can be used in wells as shallow as 25 feet and as deep as 400 feet.

Submersible pumps are more efficient and durable and have more versatility in well depth than jet pumps. As mentioned prior, the submersible pump uses impellers to drive the water up to through the pump and into the drop pipe at the surface of the well into your distribution system.

Because most well pumps, especially submersible pumps, are not meant for 24-hour usage, a pressure tank is used to maintain water pressure. This allows the pump to only be used when the water pressure drops below a certain level. Our water well experts will work with you to help determine the size of pressure tank that would work best for you. We offer a wide range of sizes dependent upon the need, from 40 gallons for home use to 21,000 gallons or more for industrial use.

If you are experiencing issues with your well pump or any components of your system, let one of experts come out and take a look.
